Hiya peepstereenos. Haven't posted in a while, but then, not too much has been going on of late. Easter was had last week, and the choir did pretty much the entire sacrament meeting program. The high point was, of course, Alyssa's fluting, which would have brought Robocop himself to tears. If, you know, he was a member of our ward. In the evening we went to Alyssa's uncle's house for Easter dinner. The high point there was when I nearly brought myself and Alyssa to tears by accidentally setting off our car alarm, causing everyone inside the house to temporarily abandon their dinners and rush to the window to see all the wackiness. (Did I mention we were late so they started eating without us?)
Let's see, other stuff that's happened lately... Wednesday we went to USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services) to get our fingerprints done for adoption. This was funny because I sent an email to my team at work to tell them I was working from home because I had to go to USCIS for fingerprinting, and the next day everyone at work was asking me if I was an illegal alien. What goobers. We paid a short visit to the new City Creek center before going to USCIS, wherein we enjoyed a spot of lunch at Blue Lemon and hit up Macy's so Alyssa could try on every swimsuit in the store before deciding nah, she didn't fancy a one of them. What a silly little...cough...I mean, I love ya, baby!
Today we did "progressive yard work," wherein we went to Becca and Shawn's and helped them weed and such, and then they came to our house and helped us, despite knowing full well that our yard is a bottomless pit of despair. Seriously. If I were retired, maybe, just maybe, I would have enough time on my hands to make it look...how shall I put this..."unvomitous." I think Becca put it best today when she said, "Only 50 or 60 more sessions of this and it might be controllable." After doing yard work, we went to a local recreation center and watched a play put on by a number of disabled people in the community. It was jolly good fun, and Alyssa and I won two raffle prizes (a T-shirt and a Target gift card), which makes up for the bleakness that was the annual JACL fundraiser two weeks ago, at which we won a water bottle and (just like last year) some celery. Actually, the water bottle was pretty cool, for a water bottle.
The only other thing to mention was a dream I had last week, in which Alyssa and I are students at the brand spanking new Mordor University, which was built immediately after the events of The Return of the King. The student center is the refurbished Mount Doom, in which the lava has been drained and a wire mesh has been constructed to keep people from falling into the hole (in fact, Alyssa and I had a hand in its construction). In the dream, we are attending a freshman mixer in the aforementioned student center. A number of wizards and faculty members are partying on the wire mesh. It suddenly gives way, and everyone dancing on it plummets away into the void. Fortunately they pop out of the hole on the other side of the planet, and all is well (except for that they're 50,000 miles away, but hey, they're wizards). A message appears on the student center Jumbo-Tron: "There are plenty of sack lunches left. Take some home to your family and friends!" This is followed by: "Be sure to grab some grapes before you leave!" Yes. Grapes. Truly, this dream holds meaning beyond measure for my life.
The "maple bacon" doughnut I brought home from work the other day, with the intention of showing it to family and friends and making them lose their cookies. It wasn't nearly as revolting as it looks or sounds.

Hey, I've heard of those donuts...and people who like them! Then again, some people just believe that bacon should go with everything. I've actually seen a Martha Stewart (?) magazine with a section on adding bacon to desserts....its the hot new thing!
The maple bacon doughnuts are good but they are best when they are warm and fresh :)
