Of Mario Kart, Souvlaki, Megalodon, and International Adoption

Haw haw, it's Monday morning and I'm not at work. I'm also not fishing, which is the reason I took Monday off in the first place, but Alyssa changed to a different position at her work and has to train today, so here I am still in my PJs, sitting around like a country bumpkin and trying to think of useful things to do, and by that I mean "pretty much anything besides play Wii Mario Kart," which is basically all Alyssa and I have done with our spare time for the last week. (I just had a birthday, you see.) Fun fun fun, just like the Beach Boys song of old.

Besides the aforementioned birthday shindy-digger (at which we enjoyed roast beef/bison and German choco cake made from scratch by the lovely Alyssa, as well as all-around hooliganism by Nick), not a lot springs to mind from the last month. General conference the last two days, with great talks and big temple news (how about that new Provo temple, huh? it was like the tabernacle was meant to burn down...though I'm still a little miffed that that million dollar organ had to be a casualty). Annual Greek Festival a few weeks ago, which Alyssa and I attended, and it was pretty rizospastikos (which, according to a random online English-Greek dictionary I found, means "radical"). We snarfed down souvlaki and other Greek foods, watched the Greek dancers, and even bought for our wacky l'il selves one of those flasks with the two spouts and the grapes in the middle that you can store oil and vinegar in. Never a dull moment when the Greens are in town, I tell you what. Also went to the museum at Thanksgiving Point with Eric and various little shenaniganizers, and that was fun, especially trying to get them to act scared in front of the Megalodon so we could take their picture, with expectedly weird results (see below).

The only other thing to mention is that Alyssa and I have decided we're now going to try international adoption, maybe from China or Taiwan. We decided this after having already decided we were going to try foster-to-adopt. "Dang Greens!" I can hear you crying in exasperation, out there in ReaderLand. "Just pick something and stick with it!" Hey, you. Mind your own biz-naz.
