Of Regional Conference, Ty's Graduation, and Chinese Adoption

Greetings, my esteemed loyal Two to Three People Out There Who Are Still Reading This Thing. Peace be unto you. Had a big regional conference at the Conference Center this morning, which was nice once we actually got through the traffic. I think we could have abandoned our cars at the freeway exit and leisurely walked the rest of the way to the C.C. and made it with plenty of time to spare. As it was, we were about a half an hour late. "Durned Mormon varmints, always makin' us late fer things, mumble grumble hound dog grumble moonshine..." But the talks were good, especially David A. Bednar's talk about following the Savior's example. I could probably learn a thing or two from that, especially when it comes to making fun of hillbillies in my blog.

Aside from that, not too much going on lately. A few weeks ago we headed to the swanky resort town of Delta, Utah for Ty's graduation from the academy he attended there. I know he probably doesn't read this blog, but I'll say it anyway: Congrats, Ty! You're a great kid and we know you'll go far. Alyssa, Brayden, and I also attended Hale Center Theater's production of My Fair Lady last week, and it was as delightsome as eating Golden Grahams in the tub. Okay, maybe not quite that delightsome. But right up there.

The only other news that comes to mind is that we're applying to adopt a special needs child from China. Yeah.  Go us, woot. And hopefully it doesn't turn out like a dream I had the other night, in which the "child" we ended up adopting was a psychotic scraggly-haired teenager with a chainsaw. An emanation of my deepest fears, or an actual prophetic vision of things to come? ("Sign here, Greens. And if he tries to hack off your limbs in the dead of night, just send him to time-out.") Speaking of dreams, I also had a much less meaningful (probably) one in which I'm attending an opera based on Harry Potter, and during the scene in which one of the basses (probably Snape) is performing a solo, whoever is standing next to me (it may have been my roommate Wes) belts out "Barbecue sauce!" in a deep boomy voice. So I, thinking this to be the height of hilarity, try to do the same but fail miserably. And that's all I've got to say about that.

Here we are with Ty after his graduation. Anika, who was off horsing around somewhere at the time, is not pictured but was probably with us in spirit.
And here is Alyssa getting jiggy to the pirate song in her Wii "Just Dance!" game. Yarr! Hot Asian chick to starboard!

I just thought I'd let you know that I'm one of the two or three that you feel read your blog. I think I've slowed on my blogging because I may have gone down to 0-1 blog readers. :) Its awesome to hear what's going on with you guys though. Sad I miss out on things like Ty's graduation.
