Of New Jobs, Sweet Object Lesson Oil Lamps, and Cars with Their Front Bumpers Still Attached

Hidily-ho, bloggarinos. Things are definitely on the upswing in Greenlandia--I now have an honest to goodness JOB, which is nice because it allows me to make, oh, what do you call that stuff... oh yeah, money. Now we can buy things we haven't been able to afford for the past several months, such as food. Plus we can hit garage sales again! Woot. We went to a few this morning (after a fruitless jaunt to the fishing pond) and found our little selves a mysterious general-style army hat that the owner had no idea where it came from, as well as a gnarly oil lamp (with oil included) that probably won't do us much good in an emergency as it will more than likely be smashed to smithareenies but looks awesome on our mantel. Plus, if Alyssa ever has to teach a Relief Society lesson on the ten virgins, that puppy will be object lesson GOLD.

As for my job, it's been good. It's really fetching far away, in Lindon, but we got ourselves a second car--a 2006 Corolla--so I won't be in danger of having pieces of the car fall off as I'm driving down the interstate, like I would be if I were driving the Death Coach--I mean, the Nissan. (Not sure if I mentioned in a previous entry that our front bumper fell off as we were pulling out of Alyssa's parents' driveway. Here it is more than a month later and we've still never replaced it.) Plus I can listen to up to 6 CDs as I drive. Rock on. Anyway, I'm working as an associate technical writer for Corda Technologies. Most of my work up to this point has focused on an iPhone/iPod application that lets you view charts and graphs made using CenterView, one of the company's biggest products. So basically, I get to sit around and mess with an iPod all day. Beats customer service, that's for sure! I haven't gotten to know many of my coworkers yet, but they seem a fun bunch. Also, the company is quite exercise-obsessed; they've divided us up into teams and we all get "mile points" for participating in exercise activities; whoever gets 650 miles as a team by May 31st gets free Nikes. So I've started a daily routine of doing the "Free Run" on the Wii Fit, which is great because I can watch my Simpsons tapes as I'm running. Hee hee hee!

Another nice thing about having a job is the fact that I'll actually have health insurance in two weeks (good thing, or President Obama might send me and Alyssa up the river--curse our insurance-not-having hides!), so we'll finally be able to post our adoption profiles again. Go us!

Congrats on the job Mr. Ben. Strange coincidence you should mention the 6-CD changer, as our Zoe put 4 cents into our 2005 Corolla's 6-CD player just yesterday. The largest ruby in Sara's car crown has been tarnished. If only there were some sort of hand-held device that could hold that many CDs at once...
