Of Big Mouth Bob, Forest Pixie Alyssa, and a Door with an Actual, Whaddaya Call Those Things, Oh Yeah, A Lock

Hello y'all. It's the morning of the last Sunday Alyssa and I will be spending in the River 6th Ward. For our final primary lesson on the Word of Wisdom, we've created a man named "Big Mouth Bob" out of a paper sack. As part of the lesson, we're going to give the children numerous plastic food items (as well as some pictures of big no-no items like beer and wine) and they're going to have the chance to put their Word of Wisdom knowledge to the test by "feeding" Bob the healthy items. We've even included a few special "non-food" items, like a plastic centipede in a hot dog bun. (That was Alyssa's idea, believe it or not.) T'will be delightsome, I have no doubt. All in all, we're really going to miss the River 6th Ward; it's been a great experience, especially being able to teach the kids. I believe that was a truly inspired calling at this point in our lives.

The house is really coming along. Yesterday we painted almost all of the upstairs as well as most of the family room downstairs. We were quite paint-encrusted at the end of the day. Alyssa had so much paint in her hair that she looked like she was going for some kind of goth "streak-hair" thing, or possibly a sparkly-haired forest pixie. As for me, I ruined yet another formerly quite nice pair of jeans. Don't ask me why I wear these things as I'm painting. Guess I just have to "look good" all the time. Yeah, right. Oh, and we finally had the back door replaced with one that actually, you know, LOCKS. It kind of makes us feel a bit more secure, as you can probably imagine.

We got in trouble for this. Apparently he wasn't supposed to be painting in his nice clothes (although he was a good helper). I suggested we destroy the photo, but Alyssa insisted that we not only keep it, but POST it on our blog. Sigh...

Alyssa, I like the t-shirt! Painting is a good use for it. I can't bring myself to ever get rid of it because of the sentimental value. I hope the paint came out of your hair!
