Hey all o' yall. It's Sunday afternoon in GreenWorld. We just got back from our first ward choir practice, which was held at the director's home and was fine except that there were somewhere between ten and fifteen kids running around like monkeys with their butts on fire and I kept having to move my legs to let them get by so I kept losing my place in the music. Children...how I'll ever survive the day I'm not quite sure yet... Other than that, choir went well, as did church. Today's theme was missionary work, meaning that all of the R.M.s had to get up and sing "I Am a Child of God" in their mission language with the primary kids. I forgot my Spanish hymnbook; luckily one of the Spanish RMs had the foresight to pass around copies of the hymn in Spanish. Unluckily, in this particular version, somebody had actually gone through and translated the entire song WORD BY WORD, probably using BabelFish Translator, so most us probably sounded like numbskulls. As for Alyssa, she spent all night last night trying to get a hold of former mission companions so she could figure out the words in Cebuano, but it was not to be, so she just sang in English.
Had a birthday this past weekend. That's right, the big 2-9er. Alyssa and I went to Red Robin Thursday, "Kung Fu Panda" on Friday, and fishing near Huntsville on Saturday. We had planned to go camping Friday night but changed our minds because it would already be dark by the time we got to the campsite. So we just decided to go fishing the next morning. Didn't catch a dad-blamed thing, but holy goodness gracious was it beautiful up there, with all the leaves starting to turn color. We've already decided we're going back next year for some actual camping. Oh yeah, Friday afternoon I went out to lunch with my co-workers as well. Not the best Mexican restaurant we went to, but it was fun, especially since it was really far away and multiple people got lost.
Work's been fairly skeewompus this past week. Management decided that, since the Digital Paths product is the huge multi-million dollar money-maker, nearly all of development is being moved from the ELLIS products to DP. Only five of us are now left to run ELLIS development--the project manager, two developers, one QA person, and lil old me, Ben Green, as the sole technical writer, meaning I've had to take over Academic for Mandy. That means a lot more work and stress for all of us. Nice to actually have work to do now, though. Oh, I should mention that I emailed the BYU 100-Hour Board regarding the metal tub and the teenagers with the buckets, and one of the writers, Hobbes, is going to put together a team and come check out the sitchy-ation this weekend! If there's a body buried in that field or something, they'll find it. The 100-Hour Board has yet to let me down. Or, maybe they'll just get arrested for trespassing. That would be pretty cool too.
