Buenos ding-dong-diddily-dias. Not an outstandingly interesting last couple of weeks. Work's been pretty slow because I've been utterly dependent on one single developer for EVERYTHING I write, and this last week he was moved to an emergency project, which means I've spent a lot more time than usual sitting around on my keeshter. (Which, due to the nature of my work, is also what I do when I'm busy. Ironic, huh?) On the bright side, though, this has given me ample opportunity to observe deer in the wilderness area across the street, which is especially cool now that the developers have moved their telescope into mine and Mandy's office. A few days ago I had the awesome opportunity to see SIX of them at once, running in a single file line. It was like something from The Lion King, except not lame. Also, yesterday there were a bunch of teenagers in uniforms, probably delinquents, out there filling buckets from a big tub and then pouring them in random locations everywhere. It was like Holes, except without the insane female warden. Mandy and I spent a good part of the day spying on them through the telescope and trying to figure out what the heck they were trying to accomplish. (We never did.)
Thursday night we went to the ward swimming party, which was fun and featured a brief musical performance by a group of Ugandan kids who I guess are on some kind of world tour. Man, they were as dar as all get-out. I'm thinking me and Alyssa should adopt one someday. Oh, and I, Ben Green, jumped off the LOW DIVING BOARD. Read it and weep! Next goal--actually diving. (I've never learned to dive.)
Alyssa and I are now thinking that, if her parents don't get the condo house thing (no, we still haven't heard anything), there's a good possibility we'll move into U of U housing in the next few months and she'll spend the next two semesters finishing up her Family and Consumer Sciences degree. That way we'll be paying much less for rent than we would in a regular apartment and we'll probably be able to afford a down payment on a house by the time she's done. Go us!
