Of Boise Graduation, Moving, Eden Time, and Pearsonview

Ay caramba, what a week. Packed stuff, finished wazoo-loads of homework, got a Master's Degree, moved to Utah, unloaded all of our worldly possessions into Alyssa's parents' shed (those last three happened on the SAME DAY), etcetera etcetera. Oh yeah, and Alyssa's sister Bethany had her baby. We saw her for the first time today when we went to Orem to help them clean their old apartment. Pretty dang presh kid. And last night, I went with Calvin to the stake general priesthood meeting, where the featured speaker was a guy who plays basketball in France and had gobs of crazy stories, including one where he and his brother were soundly beaten in a basketball shoot-out by Elder David B. Haight (who was probably about 90 at the time).

The graduation on Saturday went well. The speakers were mostly good, particularly one lady who participated in the Teachers in Space program back in the 80s. There was also a troop of bagpipers who marched in and played really stinking loud (but good!) about three feet from where I was standing. We were all afraid the ceremony was going to take all day, since they had a few thousand graduates to recognize, but they went through it surprisingly fast.

As for the job thing... I have an interview on Thursday with a company in Sandy called Pearson. Apparently they're a multi-billion-dollar publishing company (ever heard of Penguin Books?), so I am, understandably, just a wee bit on the nervous side. Alyssa is thinking about doing some temp jobs and maybe applying at CostCo, but she's not really sure yet. I guess we'll see.
